Yamagata Prefecture has a wide variety of tourism resources thanks to its diversity in topography. Travelers will enjoy both the areas by the Japan Sea side and inland side where basins are found between mountains. Two cities in our prefecture join the UNESCO creative cities network: Tsuruoka city in the gastronomy field, and Yamagata city in the film field. Furthermore, four themes together with the related sites are designated as Japan Heritages by the government: A journey to Rebirth Amid the Sacred Dewa Sanzan, The Kitamae-Bune Sea Routes, Samurai Silk, and Yamadera Temple and Safflower Experience. The Ginzan Onsen hot spa resort is now one of the top popular destinations in Japan. I, as a local guide, am truly happy to convey the charms of our prefecture to the visitors to make their stay be impressing and unforgettable.
